Rehabilitation Master Plan

A Rehabilitation Master Plan (RMP) guides how a site where aggregate (sand, gravel, stone) extraction has ended will be restored and repurposed for new uses such as recreation, agriculture or conservation.

Previous Work

In 2021, the Town completed an RMP for the Belfountain and Caledon sand and gravel resource areas. That plan serves as the model for the remaining areas listed above.

2026 Draft RMP

The 2026 RMP provides visually focused guidance with a range of potential post-extraction for the ten remaining identified areas, while allowing applicants to submit alternative proposals.

The below map provides an overview of the 2021 RMP and the 2026 RMP study areas, and the high potential mineral aggregate resource areas identified in OPA 1. The Town’s 2026 RMP high potential mineral aggregate resource areas include:

  • Alton West
  • Mono Mills
  • The Grange
  • Inglewood
  • Orangeville
  • Melville
  • Caledon East/Centreville
  • Humber

Consultation and Next Steps

On April 9, 2026 the Town of Caledon hosted a public information and engagement session about the Town’s draft Rehabilitation Master Plan. The purpose of the session was to provide an opportunity for participants to offer input on the first draft of the 2026 Rehabilitation Master Plan.

Please find below a link to the video of this session, a copy of the presentation and a feedback survey.
