Planning Appeals
Ontario's Planning Act is the provincial legislation that governs land use planning in Ontario and provides the legal foundation for the tools that planners and municipalities use to make land use planning decisions.
The Planning Act provides opportunities to appeal decisions made by the municipality about certain land use planning matters to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT).
Who can File an Appeal
The Planning Act governs who may appeal a planning decision. Please contact the Planning and Development Department if you have questions regarding appeal rights.
How to File an Appeal
You must file your appeal within the legislated timelines, along with the required OLT and Town filing fees. Please visit the Ontario Land Tribunal’s website to learn more about OLT’s process and how to file an appeal.
