You are invited to provide your input at a statutory Public Meeting about a proposed Town-initiated official plan amendment to update transportation network policies and mapping, including the identification of new major collector roads to support urban development in south Caledon.

How To Participate:

The Town of Caledon offers a hybrid meeting model with multiple ways for members of the public to participate and engage with Council.

Attend In-Person
Members of the public may register to delegate in-person and speak to an item
listed on the agenda or sit in the gallery to watch the meeting.
Submit Written Comments
Members of the public may submit written comments regarding the proposed application by completing the Participation Request Form, available at http://www.caledon.ca/speak-at-council 
Virtually
Members of the public are welcome to participate via phone or WebEx Meeting upon request. For more information, contact the Planning Department. Please note that there are deadlines to request participation at the Public Meeting.

  • Submitting written correspondence to agenda@caledon.ca  and planning@caledon.ca  for consideration during the Public Meeting. Please note that written comments will form part of the public record.

Location

The proposed official plan amendment would apply town wide.

Proposed Changes

The purpose of the proposed official plan amendment (OPA) is to update the transportation network policies and mapping (schedules) of the Future Caledon Official Plan and 1978 Town of Caledon Official Plan.
The proposed OPA would:

  • Implement the preferred major collector roads from the Town’s 2026 Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan (MMTMP) Addendum and update conceptual collector roads;
  • Protect planned road rights-of-way and intersection improvements;
  • Enable implementation of the transportation network through development and future planning studies; and,
  • Update the planned right-of-way widths for Humber Station Road between King Street and Castlederg Side Road (Caledon Station Secondary Plan) and Kennedy Road between Old School Road and Newhouse Boulevard/Bonnieglen Farm Boulevard (Mayfield West Secondary Plan) to implement Ontario Land Tribunal decisions.

Appeal Procedure

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Town of Caledon to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Caledon before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Town of Caledon before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
