Town of Caledon welcomes Richard Murdoch as Deputy Fire Chief

Caledon, ON (November 4, 2025) – The Town of Caledon is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Murdoch as Deputy Fire Chief with Caledon Fire and Emergency Services.

Murdoch brings nearly 30 years of experience from Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, where he served in a variety of leadership roles including Acting Fire Chief, Deputy Chief of Operations and Training, and Division Chief of Training. Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation for leading with integrity, supporting his teams, and driving innovation to enhance fire service delivery and community safety.

“Richard is a well-respected leader with a clear vision for how to strengthen fire services in growing communities,” said Judith D’Souza Soares, Commissioner of Community Services, Town of Caledon. “His experience in both operations and training, combined with his focus on people and culture, makes him an excellent fit for Caledon.”

Murdoch holds a Fire Service Executive Management Certificate from Humber College and a Certificate in Emergency Management, Threat, and Response Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University, along with numerous professional certifications in fire service leadership and emergency management.

Murdoch will take over the role of current Deputy Chief Dan Rowland, who is retiring on December 5. The Town of Caledon thanks Deputy Chief Rowland for his 37 years of service and wishes him well in his retirement.

Deputy Chief Murdoch will officially join Caledon Fire and Emergency Services on November 24, 2025.
