Town of Caledon welcomes OPP to downtown Bolton, strengthening community safety

CALEDON, ON (January 12, 2026) — The Town of Caledon is pleased to announce the official opening of the new Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Safety Office (CSO) in downtown Bolton, reinforcing the Town’s commitment to community safety and local presence, while supporting Caledon’s evolving needs.

The downtown Bolton site is a strategic relocation of the CSO from its former location at the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness (CCRW). By locating services closer to residents, businesses, and community organizations, the new site strengthens accessibility, visibility, and meaningful day-to-day engagement with OPP officers.

“Bringing the OPP back to downtown Bolton is a significant step forward for our community,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “I want to thank the members of Council who championed this initiative and worked diligently to make it happen. Having officers based once again in the heart of Bolton strengthens relationships, increases visibility, and ensures policing services remain closely connected to the needs of our residents.”

A community-based office supports a more proactive, prevention-focused approach to community safety, creating opportunities for early intervention and stronger collaboration with residents, businesses, and local organizations.

“Locating our Community Safety Office in the heart of Bolton reinforces the OPP’s vision of safer communities through proactive, community focused policing,” said Inspector Natalie Majer, Caledon OPP Detachment Commander. “This central location increases visibility and accessibility, strengthens collaboration with residents and community partners, and enhances service delivery, reflecting our commitment to public safety, trust, and professionalism now and into the future.”

The new office will also serve as a hub for ongoing partnerships between the Town, the OPP, and community groups, ensuring safety initiatives reflect local needs and priorities.

“Strong communities are built on trust and safety,” said CAO Nathan Hyde. “As Caledon continues to grow, this Community Safety Office demonstrates our focus on forward-looking, community-based solutions that protect residents today and prepare for the future.”

The Town looks forward to continuing its strong partnership with the OPP to enhance public safety, strengthen community connections, and ensure Caledon remains a safe and welcoming place to live, work, and visit.
