Town of Caledon reports third consecutive budget surplus of $5.5 million

CALEDON, ON (May 26, 2026) — The Town of Caledon is proud to report a budget surplus of $5.5 million for 2025, marking the third consecutive year of surpluses totaling $12.8M, demonstrating the organization’s continued commitment to fiscal accountability and responsible governance.

The 2025 year-end results reflect the Town’s disciplined financial management approach and the ongoing efforts of leadership and staff to deliver value for taxpayers while maintaining high-quality municipal services.

“This result is a reflection of strong organizational leadership and the dedication of staff across the organization,” said Caledon Mayor Annette Groves. “Careful planning, sound financial practices, and a continued focus on accountability have positioned the Town well, ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our growing community.”

The surplus was primarily due to favourable revenue variances, including incremental supplementary tax revenues and stronger‑than‑forecast fines and penalties.

“Achieving a surplus for the third consecutive year is a significant accomplishment for the organization and a direct reflection of the discipline, professionalism, and commitment of staff across the Town,” said Nathan Hyde, CAO. “These results demonstrate a strong culture of fiscal accountability and stewardship at every level of the organization. Through careful financial management, strategic decision-making, and a continued focus on delivering value to residents, staff have positioned the Town to remain financially resilient while supporting the needs of our growing community.”

Annual operating surpluses are an important component of long-term financial sustainability and help support the municipality’s ability to respond to future pressures, infrastructure needs, and community priorities.

A full report on the 2025 financial results will be presented to Council and made available to the public through the Town’s website
