CALEDON, ON (October 7, 2025) – The Town of Caledon has been awarded the 2024 Financial Information Return (FIR) Recognition Award by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH). This is the first time in Caledon’s history that it has received this award.

This award is a strong testament to the expertise of the Town’s finance team, which is committed to excellence in financial reporting and transparency. The FIR Recognition Award is presented to municipalities that demonstrate leadership and diligence in submitting timely, reliable and accurate financial information through the annual Financial Information Return.

Mayor Annette Groves expressed her appreciation for the recognition: “This award is a testament to the hard work, professionalism, and exceptional capabilities of our highly trained and educated staff. Their expertise reinforces our commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency for our residents.”

This award highlights the Town’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial transparency, accuracy, and accountability. Being listed among the award recipients not only validates the hard work and expertise of our finance team but also reinforces the Town’s dedication to responsible stewardship of public funds, fostering trust and confidence within our community.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition from the Ministry,” said Robert Cummings, Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Town of Caledon. “This award reflects the dedication of our team and their integrity to uphold the highest standards in municipal financial reporting. This achievement highlights the team’s forward-thinking and commitment to municipal-leading financial modeling to support Town of Caledon’s priorities.”

The FIR reports are a vital tool used by the Ministry to collect financial and statistical data from municipalities across Ontario. This data supports informed decision-making and helps maintain a robust and transparent municipal financial system.
