Town of Caledon launches Southfields Village Paid Parking Permit Pilot Program

January 26, 2026 – The Town of Caledon is introducing a new on-street paid parking permit pilot program in Southfields Village, designed to improve safety, fairness, and accessibility on local streets. Launching on February 2, the one-year pilot aims to address the challenges of limited parking supply, overnight parking violations, and the need for clear access during winter operations.

The new program offers residents a convenient way to legally park on designated streets beyond the standard three-hour limit, including overnight, while ensuring emergency and snow-clearing operations can continue safely.

“We’ve heard from residents that parking in Southfields Village has become increasingly challenging as the community grows,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “This new pilot program is an important step toward fairer, safer, and more efficient street use. It reflects our commitment to building complete, connected communities that work for everyone.”

Through this pilot, each Southfields Village household may purchase one on-street parking permit, available monthly ($70), for six months ($350), or annually ($700). The fees, which align with similar programs across the GTA, help offset administration and enforcement costs while supporting enhanced transportation and mobility in Caledon, a key priority in the Town’s strategic plan that focuses on creating safe, reliable, and accessible transportation options for all residents.

“The Southfields pilot reflects Caledon’s forward-thinking approach to community planning,” said Judith D’Souza Soares, Commissioner of Community Services. “By combining clear rules, flexible options, and education around garage and apron parking, we’re helping residents make informed choices that improve neighbourhood safety and livability.”

Residents can apply for their permit through the Town’s secure online portal at Caledon.ca/Parking-in-Caledon. The Town will also be rolling out a community education campaign, Better Parking, Better Southfields, to raise awareness about safe parking practices, apron use, and winter restrictions.

During snow-clearing operations, on-street parking will remain prohibited, even for permit holders, to ensure emergency vehicles and snowplows can operate safely and efficiently.
