Town of Caledon Council approves updates to support housing growth

Caledon, ON (September 26, 2025) – Town of Caledon Council has approved a series of updates to local planning policies and introduced incentive programs that will help deliver more housing options while maintaining the unique character of Caledon’s communities.

These changes, supported by the federal Housing Accelerator Fund, are designed to address Caledon’s increasing housing demand and deliver diverse housing options to meet the needs of our growing community.

The approved updates include enhancements to zoning and licensing regulations, along with a new Community Improvement Plan (CIP) that offers financial incentives to eligible property owners. These measures aim to increase housing supply, with a focus on affordability and compatibility with existing neighbourhoods.

“This is about creating more housing choices for Caledon residents while respecting the look and feel of our communities,” said Eric Lucic, Commissioner of Planning & Development and Chief Planner. “The approved standards and incentives reflect forward-thinking planning, and position us to meet our housing targets in a responsible and balanced way.”

The CIP will run through 2028, with grants and loans issued on a first-come, first-served basis. All updates align with Caledon’s long-term growth strategy and support the Town’s commitment to building 13,000 new homes by 2031.
