Town of Caledon continues enforcement and compliance efforts on illegal land use

CALEDON, ON (May 14, 2026) – The Town of Caledon continues to make progress in addressing illegal land use and unauthorized trucking-related operations through municipal law enforcement and successful court outcomes.

Between January 1 and April 30, 2026, the Town’s Municipal Law Enforcement helped secure multiple prosecutions resulting in more than $100,000 in cumulative fines. The prosecutions involved a range of zoning and illegal land use violations, including unauthorized trucking operations, commercial vehicle storage, illegal event activities and unlawful land alterations.

During this period, the Town also obtained several court orders, including prohibition and restoration orders, to support compliance and protect Caledon’s rural character and environment.

“Our Illegal Land Use Task Force continues to deliver enforcement results that help protect residents, preserve the integrity of our communities and ensure compliance with Town by-laws,” said Judith D’Souza Soares, Commissioner of Community Services, Town of Caledon.
