Town of Caledon advances key priorities at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference

CALEDON, ON (August 19, 2026) - Mayor Annette Groves led a delegation of Councillors and senior staff to advocate for Caledon’s key priorities at the 2026 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference in Ottawa. The Caledon delegation attended meetings with government officials including cabinet ministers, opposition party leaders, and municipal partners, withdiscussions focused on greater collaboration through funding support, the advancement of key infrastructure projects, and a commitment to balance shared priorities with public health and safety. 

“The AMO Conference is an important platform for us to advocate for the Town’s priorities and to ensure Caledon’s voice is heard on the provincial stage,” said Mayor Annette Groves, Town of Caledon. “As one of Ontario's fastest-growing communities in the GTHA, our focus remains on building on the strength of Caledon’spartnerships with the Province to help us deliver on the needs of our residents, from housing and healthcare to energy, transit andaffordablehousing.”  

Key topics discussed include: 

  • Strengthening collaboration with the Province to support sustainable development  

  • Strategic investments that support road safety and community well-being 

  • Establishing a funding solution to ensure the transition of Peel public works services to Caledon does not negatively impact Caledon’s tax base 

  • Advancing the Caledon-Vaughan Go Line with service to Caledon before 2041 

  • Upgrading the local energy grid to ensure capacity keeps pace with local needs 

  • Acceleratingbroadband access to ensure all residents have reliable connectivity
