The Town of Caledon is responding to a spill in a stormwater pond in Bolton
CALEDON, ON (June 24, 2025) – The Town of Caledon is responding to a spill in a stormwater pond in Bolton near Coleraine Drive and George Bolton Parkway.
The site has been secured, and the Town has been working closely with its partners, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Peel Spills and Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks to assess the area and contain the spill.
The contaminant sample was sent for laboratory analysis to ensure the continued safety and well-being of residents and the results of that analysis have identified the contaminant as oil.
There is currently no indication of any health or water quality impact to the nearby properties. The incident has resulted in the loss of fish and wildlife. The number of affected animals is unclear at this time, but the Town is working closely with a reputable agency for wildlife rescue and cleanup efforts.
“Remediation efforts are currently underway. I want to remind residents that this is an active investigation and therefore we are unable to share details," said Domenica D'Amico, Commissioner of Engineering, Public Works and Transportation, Town of Caledon. "Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this.”
Anyone who may have information regarding the spill is asked to contact Caledon OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
