Public Meeting: Final recommendations for Active Transportation Master Plan

The Town of Caledon needs your input on final recommendations for its Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) to encourage residents and visitors to walk, bike, hike and become more active as they live, work and play in Caledon. This plan is to create a walkable, bikeable and trail-friendly community for people of all ages and abilities throughout Caledon.

“At the first public meeting in May we heard many great ideas and input to help arrive at the stage we are at now,” said Arash Olia, Manager of Transportation Engineering. “We hope to see, and hear from, as many Caledon residents as possible to have a plan informed by as many perspectives as possible. We will present more than 400 km of new active transportation routes as well as more than 40 recommendations from the study to highlight how the Town plans to address community priorities.”

Recommendation summary:

  • Connect all villages and urban centres across the Town internally and to the Regional active transportation network with off-road and on-boulevard networks.
  • Expand the network of cycling and trail network by filling in gaps.
  • Consider the environment, cost, needs and desire for increased infrastructure and services.
  • Build high-quality trails that link to destinations across Caledon.
  • Provide an accessible network for residents of all ages and abilities.
