OPP: 42 Closed Circuit Television Cameras Installed in Caledon

From: Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Caledon Detachment

Date: October 30, 2025

The Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with support of the Town of Caledon, were successful in the receipt of the 2024/25 Ontario Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Grant Program offered by the Ministry of the Solicitor General as part of the Ontario Guns, Gangs and Violence Reduction Strategy (GGVRS).

As announced in Spring 2025, the Caledon OPP were recipients of a grant totalling just over $254,000 to assist in the implementation of CCTV cameras across Caledon as apart of the GGVRS. The participation of Caledon OPP and the Town of Caledon in this grant reflects our commitment to proactive crime prevention, effective law enforcement, and fostering a thriving, secure environment for residents and businesses.

Over the next few weeks, the installation of the CCTV cameras will occur across Caledon and will be fully operational by the end of November 2025. These cameras are intended solely for investigative purposes, and to ensure transparency, all camera locations will be clearly marked with signage to inform the public that the area is under surveillance.

“This program reflects our commitment to building safe, connected communities. The cameras will help protect public infrastructure, support traffic investigations, and provide real-time data to the OPP, all while respecting residents’ privacy.”
- Mayor Annette Groves, Town of Caledon

“The Ontario CCTV Grant Program is a strategic investment in public safety that empowers the Caledon OPP to proactively deter crime, enhance investigations, and strengthen community trust. With over $254,000 in provincial funding, the Town of Caledon and the OPP are working together to expand surveillance capabilities in high-risk areas, reinforcing our shared commitment to protecting residents and ensuring a safer, more secure community.

Similar CCTV-driven efforts are underway across the province, from Windsor and Sarnia-Lambton to Waterloo, Niagara Region, Kenora, and beyond, highlighting a unified, modern, and community-centred approach to policing in Ontario. It reflects our dedication to modern, intelligence-led policing that prioritizes prevention, partnerships, and public confidence.

In addition to these public installations, the CAMSafe program invites residents and businesses to voluntarily register their private security cameras at www.camsafe.ca, creating a collaborative network that enables officers to request footage during investigations without accessing live feeds. We also encourage residents to get involved through the OPP Community Watch program, where residents partner with officers, attend safety briefings, and help report suspicious activity.”

- Inspector Natalie Majer, Caledon OPP Detachment Commander
