Ontario Government Investing More Than $15 million to Enable New Housing in Caledon

CALEDON, ON (October 22, 2025) - The Town of Caledon has received a $15.2 million investment from Ontario’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP) to help execute a road project that will enable almost 12,000 new housing units in west Caledon. The funding is part of the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing (HECS) stream of the MHIP.

The project will reconfigure the current interchange at Hurontario St. and Highway 410 in west Caledon to facilitate a new four lane arterial road at Tim Manley Ave. and Valleywood, ensuring safer and faster access to that community, as well as facilitating new development. The project will also future proof the intersection as traffic volumes change with the construction of Hwy 413. The MHIP-HECS grant will cover 50% of the total project. Work on the project has already begun and completion is expected in 2027.

The project includes:

  • Realignment of 230 metres of Hurontario St. and construction of a 150-metre extension to Tim Manley Ave.
  • Modification of the current Hwy 410 ramp to support additional traffic
  • Creation of three new on-ramps to Hwy 410
  • Construction of 600 metres of new sidewalk and 150 metres of multi-use path
  • Installation of new traffic signals and streetlights

“Our government’s plan to protect Ontario includes critical investments to keep workers on the job and make local communities stronger,” said Todd McCarthy, Ontario’s Acting Minister of Infrastructure. “The Caledon project will deliver better and safer roads for residents and commuters for years to come, while also ensuring the community is able and ready to build new housing to accommodate growth.”

“Through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, our government is taking action to enable nearly 12,000 new housing units in Caledon”, said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon. “This funding will enhance road safety, support local growth and unlock new housing opportunities, ensuring Caledon continues to be a safe and thriving community for families and businesses.”

“This investment from Ontario gives our Town critical resources to help build roads infrastructure that makes new housing possible,” said Annette Groves, Mayor of Caledon. “The investment also supports economic growth and jobs as Ontario continues to grapple with tariffs and trade uncertainties.”

Caledon’s application for this funding was evaluated on several criteria, including the technical merit of the roads involved, impact on development, readiness of the project for execution and financial capacity of the Town to fund its portion of the project. The project also needed to demonstrate effective Indigenous engagement prior to receiving funding approval.

“This project showcases Caledon’s innovative, collaborative approach to infrastructure development,” said Nathan Hyde, CAO of the Town of Caledon. “Caledon’s growth is an ambitious goal and we are delivering results through practical solutions, adaptive management and exemplary fiscal stewardship.”
