Notice of Study Completion: Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan (MMTMP) Addendum
Town of Caledon
Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan (MMTMP) Addendum
Notice of Study Completion
The Town of Caledon has initiated an addendum to the Council-approved 2024 Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan (MMTMP), which established a long term, multi-modal transportation strategy to support the growth planned to 2051 within the New and Existing Urban Areas (NEUA) identified in the Future Caledon Official Plan. The primary intent of the MMTMP Addendum is to further build and refine the transportation recommendations from the 2024 MMTMP by establishing a preferred alignment for an east-west multi-modal collector road network within the study area to help guide and provide clarity in planning of the Town’s transportation network as growth proceeds in the Town. The study area for the MMTMP Addendum is bound by Coleraine Drive, Mayfield Road, Mississauga Road, and Old School Road, encompassing approximately 62 square kilometres of lands within the New and Existing Urban Areas (NEUA).
The MMTMP Addendum has now been completed.
STUDY PROCESS
The MMTMP Addendum Study has been carried out in accordance with the requirements of Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2023), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The study followed Master Plan Approach #1 under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process.
While the original 2024 MMTMP identified the need for additional east–west road connections within the study area, it did not define a specific alignment. The MMTMP Addendum establishes the preferred east-west multimodal collector road network and alignment, through the evaluation of alternative solutions using a common set of criteria focused on enhanced connectivity and continuity, environmental and land use impacts, safety and accessibility for all users, and cost and constructability.
The Public Consultation Centre (PCC) for the MMTMP Addendum was held on September 30, 2025. Additional public and stakeholder engagement was also undertaken beyond this mandatory PCC. Feedback from the public and stakeholders has been taken into consideration as part the MMTMP Addendum and the selection of the preferred east-west multimodal collector road network and alignment.
