Notice of Election - Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s.40)

Pursuant to the requirements of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996: 

NOTICE is hereby given to the electors of the Town of Caledon that the Municipal and School Board Elections will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, to elect the following offices for the 2026 to 2030 term of Council:  

  • ​​​​​Mayor 

  • Local Councillors 

  • Regional Councillors 

  • School Board Trustees 

On May 20, 2025, Town Council passed By-Law 2025-047 to authorize the use of voting and vote-counting equipment for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election. As such, Caledon electors or voting proxies will vote by paper ballot at any voting location in the Town during Advance Voting and on Voting Day.

In accordance with section 17(2) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, a person is entitled to be an elector at an election held in a local municipality if on voting day they: 

  • reside in the local municipality or are the owner or tenant of land there, or are the spouse of such owner or tenant 

  • are a Canadian citizen 

  • are at least 18 years old 

  • are not otherwise prohibited from voting by law 

You must bring identification that confirms your name and residence. 

To make voting in the 2026 Elections as accessible as possible to all Caledon voters, the Town is offering a variety of ways to cast your ballot, including:  

  • Ballot Marking Devices are designed to support independent, private, and accessible paper-ballot marking during municipal elections and will be available at select locations on Advanced Voting days and Voting Day, marked with asterisks * above, 

  • Curbside Voting can be requested at any voting location for electors who cannot physically enter the voting place,  

  • Home Voting will be available upon request in limited quantities for eligible voters during the Advance Voting period, and 

  • Proxy Voting is offered to any eligible voters in the Town to appoint another eligible Caledon voter as a proxy to vote on their behalf.
