New program helps make recreation more accessible for Caledon residents
October 29, 2026 (CALEDON, ON) – A new Town of Caledon program will help eligible residents with the cost of recreation programs, memberships and activities.
The Recreation Subsidy Program provides eligible Caledon residents with up to $250 per year to put towards eligible Town recreation programs and services. This new program is another way the Town is working to reduce financial barriers to make it easier for residents to participate in recreation opportunities.
“Everyone should have the opportunity to take part in recreation, regardless of their financial circumstances,” said Judith D’Souza Soares, Commissioner of Community Services. “Being active is important, but recreation is also a great way to meet people, try something new and feel connected to your community. We hope this program will help remove some of the financial barriers and make it easier for more residents to get involved.”
To qualify, applicants must live in Caledon, meet the program’s household income requirements or be enrolled in Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program.
Applications can be completed online or with assistance at any Town recreation centre. With winter program registration around the corner, residents are encouraged to apply soon so the subsidy is available when they need it, as applications can take up to six weeks to be processed.
