Caledon strengthens international business ties through successful Italy mission

CALEDON, ON – (September 24, 2025) The Town of Caledon is already seeing positive outcomes and new opportunities resulting from its recent business mission to Italy. This mission reinforced Caledon’s growing reputation as a prime location for business investment.

Mayor Annette Groves, Councillor Tony Rosa, and CAO Nathan Hyde, accompanied by some of the Town’s Economic Development staff, participated in 24 investment attraction meetings in Rome, Milan, and the Lazio Region. Their discussions with businesses, trade organizations, and local governments have already sparked significant interest in Caledon as a potential hub for investment.

"We’ve laid a solid foundation for future growth and established meaningful relationships that will pay dividends for our community," said Mayor Annette Groves. “This mission has demonstrated the strength of Caledon’s business environment and the potential for long-term, sustainable partnerships.”

The mission also set the stage for future delegations and strategic visits. Caledon recently hosted its first business delegation with Biscotti P. Gentilini Srl, coordinated with the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario (ICCO). This visit highlighted the Town’s attractiveness as an investment destination and bolstered the interest of potential investors.

"We’re committed to bringing new opportunities to Caledon, and this trip has put us at the forefront of conversations with some of Italy’s leading businesses," noted CAO Nathan Hyde. “With additional business associations and company visits planned for later this year and into 2026, the momentum from this mission will continue to benefit our community for years to come.”

Support from both provincial and federal governments, including the Government of Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, played a crucial role in making these connections possible. The Town of Caledon also secured funding through the CanExport Community Investments program to further strengthen its international ties and enhance its economic development efforts.

This trip was an important step forward for Caledon to strengthen international partnerships and turn global connections into local opportunities. Looking ahead, Caledon expects to see continued growth in agri-food operations, new business partnerships, and expanded investment in the region. Upcoming visits in late 2025 and early 2026 are expected to deepen these relationships, positioning Caledon as a key player in the global business landscape.
