Caledon Seniors Centre Primary Grant recipient of the 2025 Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament

CALEDON, ON (July 23, 2025) – The Caledon Seniors Centre was selected as the Primary Grant recipient for the 2025 Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament (CCCGT) to receive $75,000 of the funds raised from the 2025 tournament. These funds will be used towards a new, state-of-the-art sound and audiovisual (AV) system in the original wing of Rotary Place, the Centre’s main location in Bolton.

“I am truly delighted the Caledon Seniors Centre is this year’s primary grant recipient,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “Our seniors are the heart of Caledon, and the Centre plays such an important role in supporting their well-being through programs that promote active, healthy living. This tournament is helping improve the lives of others by funding programs and services that may not otherwise be possible.”

The Caledon Seniors Centre is a not-for profit, charitable organization that was created to provide the opportunity for older adults to come together to fulfill many of their social, educational, cultural, and recreational needs. The funding will assist with purchasing high performance AV systems that enable seniors with varying visual and auditory abilities to enjoy the sights and sounds of the events and activities they attend through video display monitors, an assistive listening system, and wall-mounted touch screen controllers.

“As Chair of the 2025 Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament, I look forward to helping raise funds to support the goals of the Caledon Senior Centre and to create new opportunities for our seniors,” said Regional Councillor for Wards 4, 5, & 6, and CCCGT Chair Mario Russo.

Rotary Place has long served as a vital hub for senior programs, meals, social events, and exercise classes. However, poor acoustics in the older portion of the building have created ongoing challenges—especially for those with hearing impairments. The new sound and AV system will significantly improve audio clarity and overall accessibility, ensuring that seniors can fully engage in all activities.

“Seniors are very important to our community and supporting them means strengthening the fabric of our town. The funds raised through this tournament are an investment in their well-being and in Caledon's future. We invite everyone to join us in supporting this meaningful cause,” said Ward 6 Councillor and CCGT Committee Vice-Chair Councillor Cosimo Napoli.

The Caledon Seniors Centre offers a wide range of programs at Rotary Place and six satellite locations across the Town of Caledon, with most activities run by volunteers. This funding marks a key milestone in the Centre’s ongoing commitment to creating welcoming, accessible spaces for older adults.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Town of Caledon and all the golfers, sponsors, and community members who helped make this grant possible,” said Beverley Nurden, Manager of the Caledon Seniors Centre. “This investment directly supports our goal of fostering social inclusion and improving quality of life for older adults in our community.”
