Caledon Honours National Indigenous History Month
June 9, 2026 (CALEDON, ON) – June is National Indigenous History Month, and the Town of Caledon encourages residents to take part in events and learning opportunities that raise awareness of the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
“National Indigenous History Month reminds us of the importance of acknowledging Indigenous culture, traditions and history,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “It is an opportunity for all of us to learn from Indigenous communities, honour their contributions, and strengthen our commitment to advancing reconciliation.”
National Indigenous History Month Events
- Flag Raising and Four Colours Drum Performance – June 15 at 11:30 a.m., at Town Hall Flagpole
- Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Chief Margaret Sault speaks at Caledon Day opening ceremony – June 20 at 6:15 p.m. – Caledon East Community Complex
- Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations (MCFN) at Caledon Day – MCFN will be a featured community partner.
- National Indigenous Peoples Day – June 21
- Mississaugas of the Credit, Ajetance Treaty, No. 19 history and information boards – On display all month at the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness, Caledon East Community Complex, Southfields Community Centre and the Town Hall atrium.
