Caledon Fire & Emergency Services Celebrates Graduation of 30 New Volunteer Firefighters

CALEDON, ON (July 18, 2025) – Yesterday, Caledon Fire & Emergency Services celebrated the graduation of 30 new Volunteer Firefighter Recruits.

"Becoming a volunteer firefighter demands a truly exceptional level of commitment and resilience, and each of these recruits has shown that in spades," said Fire Chief Dave Pelayo. "We’re proud to welcome such a passionate group to our team. Their dedication speaks volumes about their character and the strength of our department’s future."

The ceremony celebrated the completion of a rigorous, multi-month training program that prepared recruits for the realities of front-line emergency response. Through comprehensive instruction in fire suppression, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, and rescue operations, each graduate has earned full certification in NFPA 1001 (Levels I and II) and NFPA 1072 for hazardous materials response. With these qualifications, they are ready to serve and protect the residents of Caledon.

"Volunteer firefighters are a vital part of our emergency response network," said Commissioner of Community Services Judith D’Souza Soares. "Their courage and unwavering commitment to the community is truly commendable. I extend my heartfelt gratitude for their willingness to step forward and serve.”

The Town of Caledon extends its congratulations to the new volunteers. These individuals now join the ranks of more than 200 volunteer firefighters who stand ready to protect their community in times of need.
