Caledon Fire and Emergency Services celebrate graduation of its largest full-time recruit class
CALEDON, ON (May 4, 2026) – The Town of Caledon proudly celebrated the graduation of 24 career firefighters on May 1 – the largest full-time recruit class in Caledon Fire and Emergency Services history.
Over approximately four months, recruits completed more than 600 hours of intensive training, including live fire exercises, firefighter survival training, rapid intervention scenarios, and zero-visibility search and rescue. Training took place in challenging winter conditions, with recruits operating in extreme cold, snow, and high winds.
With an average age of 31, the class brings diverse experience in firefighting, emergency medical services, trades, and public service. Half of the recruits are Caledon residents, and many bring additional strengths in multi-language communication and technical skills.
“This graduating class has demonstrated the skill, resilience and commitment needed to serve our community,” said Fire Chief Dave Pelayo. “They are well prepared to respond to emergencies and support the safety of Caledon residents.”
Throughout the program, recruits earned key certifications, including NFPA 1002 (Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator – Pump Operations) and NFPA 1035 (Fire and Life Safety Educator).
The Town of Caledon congratulates the 2026 recruit class and welcomes them to Caledon Fire and Emergency Services.
