Town of Caledon issues Open Air Fire Ban

June 1, 2023 (CALEDON, ON) – Effective Friday, June 2, 2023, at 8 a.m., the Fire Hazard Rating for Caledon will be raised to Extreme. As a result, a temporary open air fire ban will be in effect in the Town of Caledon until further notice.
This ban applies to all agricultural and open air fires, including recreational fires, as defined in By-law 2016-092 - Open Air, Recreational and Agricultural.

Caledon Fire and Emergency Services recruiting volunteer firefighters to join their team

May 31, 2023 (CALEDON, ON) – Caledon Fire and Emergency Services is launching a recruitment drive to hire volunteer firefighters, a role that involves responding to both emergencies and non-emergencies, including fires; medical emergencies; vehicle collisions and more.
To be eligible, interested applicants must be 18 years of age and up, have a valid G driver’s licence and live within 8km of a Caledon Fire Station. They must also attend one of three upcoming mandatory information sessions:

May 24, 2023 (CALEDON) – Yesterday Council discussed Bill 112 (Hazel McCallion Act) which will dissolve the Regional Municipality of Peel. Through this legislation the three lower tier municipalities in the region will be independent and the Town of Caledon will become a single tier municipality.

Preserving the Dark Sky
Council asked staff to report back on a way to help preserve the dark sky in Caledon to protect natural habitats and wildlife from light pollution. Staff will review different ways to achieve this including through a bylaw or Official Plan review.
