Community Recognition Night Honours Caledon’s Outstanding Citizens

In 2016, over 30 Caledon volunteers were recognized and celebrated for making a difference in our community. 

The 2016 Community Champion, the highest honour of the event, went to Betty Ward. 

A former teacher, Betty has contributed to the Caledon East community for decades through her church, the local historical society and many volunteer groups such as Meals on Wheels. Recognizing her as a  Community Champion was just a small token of thanks for her countless hours of giving to others.

Darryl Bailey has been appointed Fire Chief of the Town of Caledon. This appointment follows Bailey’s appointment of Acting Fire Chief late last year.

Bailey has worked full time with Caledon Fire & Emergency Services since 2003, most recently as Acting Fire Chief and as Deputy Fire Chief, Operations. Town of Caledon approves 2017 Budget

The Town of Caledon Council approved the 2017 Budget during the Town Council meeting on December 20, 2016, setting the stage for Town services and capital projects for 2017 and beyond. For the average home in Caledon, assessed at $522,000, this blended residential tax increase of 2.45% means a yearly tax increase of $112.87.
