Why you should consider pet adoption

Adopting a pet has many advantages:

  • You're helping an abandoned animal find a forever home
  • We offer low adoption fees
  • You can get a pet that is already spayed or neutered
  • Our pets will already have a microchip identification

Adoption process

Before you can take home your newest family member, you need to come in and meet with our staff. We'll introduce you to our animals and provide you with an application form.

Adopting a cat

If you are interested in a particular cat that you've seen online, call us in advance to make sure it is still available. We can help you find the cat that matches your lifestyle and personality. Take the Meet Your Match Cat Adopter Survey to find out your “Feline-ality” colour category. Each cat at the shelter has a corresponding colour based on their personality. While a cat that matches your colour category may be perfect for you, you are welcome to select the cat that feels right.

Fees

The following fees apply to cat adoptions:

  • Spayed or neutered cats cost $105.00
  • Non-spayed or neutered cats cost $75.00
  • Senior cats cost $30.00

All adoption fees are subject to HST. Your new cat is entitled to receive a free medical exam and 10% off vaccines within 14 days of adoption at participating veterinary clinics.

Barn cat adoption program

If you have a barn or outdoor structure and want a cat to help control rodent populations, you can adopt a barn cat. Cats available through the barn cat adoption program aren't considered suitable for adoption in a home environment due to behaviour or lack of socialization.
