Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Who qualifies for a free membership?

You must be at least 65 years or older and a resident of the Town of Caledon. If you turn 65 after the April 1 launch date, you qualify starting on your 65 birthday.

How do I sign up for a free membership?

You can sign up in person at any recreation centre. You will need to bring documents to verify your identity to ensure you meet the requirements. We cannot register anyone who is not physically present or who does not have the required identification.

Starting March 4, 2026, visit one of our Membership Information Tables to sign up early, complete your verification and learn more about what’s included ahead of the April 1 launch. Memberships signed up for in advance will have a scheduled start date of April 1.

Sign up is not available online, over the phone, or by email.

What documents do I need to bring for verification?

Driver’s Licence or Ontario Photo Card is preferred, as it confirms both your identity and residency. If you do not have either, you may provide two documents to confirm your identity and residency:

Proof of identity Proof of residency
  • Passport

  • Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Card

  • Canadian Birth Certificate

  • Provincial Health Card (only green photo card)

  • Mortgage or lease agreement

  • Property tax bill

  • Insurance policy (home, tenant, auto)

  • Utility bill (hydro, gas, water) dated within 90 days.

What if I already have an active membership?

If you paid for a membership that extends beyond April 1, your membership will not automatically change. You are still required to sign up in person at a recreation centre and bring documents to verify your identity.

Eligible members will receive an email with instructions to cancel your existing membership and request a prorated refund for unused time remaining. If you do not receive an email and you have an active membership, check your junk mail or contact Recreation Customer Service by emailing recreation@caledon.ca, calling 905-584-2272 ext. 7327, or visiting any recreation centre.

After April 1, eligible members will not receive emails and will need to request a refund by contacting Recreation Customer Service.

What does my membership include?

You will receive an All Access Annual membership, which includes unlimited access to all amenities and drop-in activities within our recreation centres.

If you would like to start using our fitness centres or inexperienced with fitness equipment and new to working out, we strongly recommend you attend a fitness orientation to familiarize yourself with our fitness centres and gym etiquette.

Registered programs, courses and lessons are not included, but eligible residents will continue to receive the Adult 55+ discounted rate for applicable activities.

How long are memberships valid for?

Your membership is an annual term and is valid for one year from the date it is activated. It will need to be renewed in person each year with documents to verify your identity.
