Lost and Found Pets

Each year, thousands of lost and abandoned pets are taken in by shelters and humane societies across North America. At Caledon Animal Services, we help reconnect lost pets with their owners.

If your pet has gone missing or you've found a stray animal, please contact us.

Lost pets

If your pet has gone missing, we will need a description; a picture helps too and their microchip number (if you know it).

After you've contacted us, try these additional tips to locate your lost pet:

  • Search around your home, yard and neighbourhood
  • Ask your neighbours if they've seen your pet
  • Contact local veterinary clinics and animal shelters in neighbouring communities
  • Spread the word about your lost pet on social media
  • Put up posters in your neighbourhood, at veterinary clinics and at our shelter
  • Register your pet with Helping Lost Pets

Retrieval fees

If your dog is brought in or picked up by Animal Services and returned to you, the following fees may apply:

  • $100 if the dog does not have up to date identification
  • $25 with valid identification (first time)
  • $50 with valid identification (each subsequent retrieval)
  • $20 for each day the dog is impounded (excluding the first day)

If your dog was quarantined at the shelter, the following fees may apply:

  • $59 for the first day of quarantine
  • $23 for each additional day of quarantine

If we picked up your lost dog outside of regular business hours, and additional $80 to retrieve your pet is added.

Found pets

If you find a stray pet in your community, contact Animal Services and drop the pet off at the shelter located at 12889 Coleraine Dr. in Bolton as soon as possible. We will work to identify the animal, check our records and reports and return it to its owner as quickly as possible.

If you find your lost pet, please remember to let us know and remove your posters.
