Town of Caledon announces official opening date for the expanded Caledon East Community Complex

CALEDON, ON (April 12, 2023) – Just under two years after breaking ground, the Caledon East Community Complex (CECC) expansion project will be complete, and the facility fully reopen for use on September 5, 2023, with an official grand opening event set for September 16.

“Opening the CECC expansion with all the new amenities is very exciting for Caledon residents,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “The new and modern facility will offer an additional 52,000 square feet for programs and features residents have been asking for.”

Some of the new CECC features will include:

• a swimming pool;
• fitness centre and studio;
• library with maker space;
• indoor walking track overlooking a full-size gymnasium;
• an outdoor rink and pavilion;
• multi-purpose and meeting spaces; and
• a dedicated section for an enhanced Sports Hall of Fame.

“Staff are working hard to complete the final stages of construction and prepare for opening,” said Catherine McLean, Director of Community Services. “In addition to finishing the building, staff are preparing programming, schedules, facilities and equipment as well as onboarding the various staff required to support operations when we open in September.”
