Public Input Needed: Retail Cannabis Stores in Caledon

The Town of Caledon is looking for input from residents and businesses to help inform a decision about permitting retail cannabis stores in Caledon.

In 2018 the federal government legalized recreational cannabis. The province provided municipalities the one-time option to opt-out of having cannabis retail stores in their communities. Municipalities that chose to opt out can opt back in at any time—but once they are in, they may no longer opt out.

In 2019 the Town of Caledon opted out of cannabis retails stores and is reviewing the decision. Residents are invited to provide their input in a survey online or to drop-in to an open house for cannabis retail stores to ask questions and participate in the survey.
