“Home Safe Home” – Door-to-Door Fire Safety Awareness

Caledon Fire & Emergency Services will participate in the annual Home Safe Home program to promote and educate residents about home fire safety. Fire crews will visit homes between May 14, 2018 – October 14, 2018, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekends. Firefighters will share various resources and tips, and residents will have the opportunity to ask questions – all in the spirit of fire safety!

“Keeping our community fire safe is fundamental for all of our firefighters, and together fire crews support the principle of ‘prevention rather than cure’ - taking a proactive approach to fire safety,” said Fire Chief Darryl Bailey. “Education is a key component of home safety, and over the next several months, fire crews will deliver the message of being proactive rather than reactive.”

Fire crews, who will be in full uniform along with volunteer firefighters, will focus on educating home owners on the importance of electrical safety and keeping all heating/cooling equipment and appliances in good working order. In addition, a strong emphasis will be placed on having working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms throughout the home. Be on the lookout for a Caledon fire truck, visiting your neighbourhood soon!
