Municipal Law Enforcement (MLE) Shift Schedule

Staff presented two options to increase coverage, improve response and establish a tiered response system at a Council Committee workshop on January 24, 2024.

Council asked that the Service Level Request by MLE be amended, in the 2024 Town of Caledon Budget, through a Council Budget Motion to add two (2) additional FTE Parking Officers. Further, staff have been asked to report back to Council with a comprehensive review of the impact of this change including but not limited to metrics such as call volume, request type and an analysis of the effectiveness the tiered enforcement model before December 31, 2024.

This was approved through the 2024 Budget process.

Adding Commemorations to Cenotaphs

There are four cenotaphs in Caledon including Alton, Bolton, Caledon East and Mono Mills, that commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who served in the Great War, World War II and Korea. Since 1948, more than 125,000 Canadians have served on United Nations missions and 130 have died on those missions. From 2001 to 2014, more than 40,000 Canadians were deployed to Afghanistan where 125 were killed and more than 2000 wounded.

Staff has been asked to report back to Council on the possible addition of plaques or inscriptions on cenotaphs in Caledon by June 2024 or in time to complete the updates for the November 2024 Remembrance Day ceremonies.
