Caledon priorities tabled at annual provincial conference

A delegation, led by Mayor Annette Groves, will advocate for Caledon at the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference from August 20 to 23, 2023.

“At this year's AMO conference we are requesting support for Caledon as we become one of the fastest growing municipalities in Ontario as well as a single-tier municipality,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “We’re hearing from our residents and businesses about challenges and opportunities regarding aggregates, transportation and enforcement that affect Caledon and the surrounding Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Bringing our requests directly to our provincial government and colleagues across Ontario is an important step in creating the Caledon we want to build.”

Caledon’s elected officials will connect with colleagues from across the province at the conference hosted by the City of London. AMO is a non-profit organization representing almost all of Ontario's municipal governments and provides an opportunity for the Mayor and Council to meet with ministers in the provincial government and members of the opposition.

At this year’s conference the Caledon delegation, with Members of Caledon Council and Town of Caledon Chief Administrative Officer Nathan Hyde, will bring forward the following requests:

  • assistance with sustainably managing aggregates; and
  • advancement of the Caledon-Vaughan GO Line to be in service by 2041 with two stations.

More information on Caledon’s advocacy work can be found at caledon.ca/advocacy.

AMO supports and enhances strong and effective municipal governments in Ontario and promotes the value and municipal government as a vital and essential component of Canada's political system.
