Caledon Fire and Emergency Services earns Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation

November 16, 2023 – Earlier this fall, Caledon Fire and Emergency Services earned a significant rating that may lower insurance rates for rural residents and commercial businesses. Effective October 2, 2023, Caledon Fire earned Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation, certifying the department’s ability to provide water for fighting fires in rural areas of town for all nine fire stations in Caledon.

“This accreditation qualifies some rural residents with homes, farms and commercial businesses for potentially lower insurance rates,” said Fire Chief Dave Forfar. “This is a great accomplishment by Caledon Fire. We take pride in keeping our community safe, and our rural residents can now feel more confident that in the event of a fire, our team will provide them with quality service.”

As a result of these accreditations:

  • Residents who own detached dwellings within 8 kilometres (by road) to a fire station and are 5 kilometres from an approved water supply may be eligible to receive a cost reduction in their fire insurance rates from insurers in Canada.
  • Commercial business owners who own property within 5 kilometres (by road) to a fire station and are 2.5 kilometres from an approved water supply may be eligible to receive a cost reduction in their fire insurance rates from insurers in Canada.
