Profile: Wine Wagon Mobile Bar

Matt and Kimberley Medeiros saw an opportunity to start a business during the pandemic, finding their niche with the Wine Wagon Mobile Bar. But that isn’t where the story ends. Kimberley tells us why they are opening their business now and what else they are working on.

Tell us about the business.

We are a mobile bartending service.  We have a custom built 14-foot, vintage style trailer that has all the fixings a bar would - ice wells, fridges and freezers, and multiple serving windows.  We provide rental and bartending services for private events like weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events.  

Why did you get into this business?

Matt and I had thought about getting back into bartending for a while as owners and entrepreneurs.

We met years ago bartending together, and we always knew that we would end up behind the bar again.  Combine our bartending background with our careers in the corporate and sales world, we felt the time was right. 

When COVID hit, we were seeing lots of our friends and families forced to cancel big life events like weddings and milestone anniversaries, and when they were ready to re-book, they found that banquet halls and event centres simply didn't have availability.  Suddenly people needed to be more creative. 

In addition, with constantly changing COVID gathering limits, more and more people are planning their events for outdoors.  We thought this would be a great opportunity to start a creative new venture while also being able to fill a niche that is so needed right now. 

What does the future hold, any plans to expand? A fleet of Wine Wagons perhaps?

We are excited to see where this adventure takes us. 

We are also working on opening a wine and tapas bar in downtown Bolton called Wine Spot. 

Wine Wagon will be the catering vehicle. 

We have definitely talked about possibly getting more trailers and building a fleet, as we are overwhelmed by the interest.  But we will let our customer's guide us on what's next!

What are you most looking forward to when we get past COVID-19 restrictions?

We have always been the hosts and entertainers, but just like everybody else, COVID has kept us from celebrating our own life events over the past year.  Once COVID restrictions are gone, we can't wait to throw a huge birthday/Christmas/Halloween/anniversary/just because party for our loved ones.
