Inclusive Recreation Services
Programs
The Town of Caledon offers both inclusive and adapted opportunities in all program areas for participants with a special need.
Inclusive opportunities:
- For individuals who may require some additional assistance in order to participant in standard recreational programs
- A program where participants with special needs participate in any program alongside others
- Upon request, a inclusion staff will support the participant as they engage in program activities to their fullest extent; subject to staff availability
Adapted opportunities:
- For individuals who have special needs and want to participate in a recreation program with others who have similar interests and abilities
- The program has been modified to meet the needs of a specific group of participants. This could be through equipment, content and rules, structure, support or environment
- Inclusion staff will support participants as they engage in program activities to their fullest extent

Adapted Programs |
Fun ClubDesigned for participants with special needs, this supported program will provide opportunities to socialize in an active gymnasium environment followed by time in the swimming pool.
Activity TimeThis program is for participants with special needs. Participants will be exposed to a variety of activities; arts and crafts, physical activity, and group games in a supportive environment.
Adapted Swimming LessonsThis program is for participants aged 13-21 years with special needs. With each individual's needs in mind, the goal of this program is to provide basic water instruction and to teach water safety skills in a one-to- one setting.
All participants must complete a profile prior to entry into any Town of Caledon Registered Program. |
Single Visit Activities |
Support Persons at any Single Visit ActivityThe Town of Caledon offers a variety of single visit programs town-wide. Participants are welcome to register for these programs and a support person can accompany free of charge. Please identify the support person to staff upon check in to be admitted at no charge.
Adapted SwimA shallow water, sensory-aware swim for individuals and their family who benefit from a quiet swimming environment. All participants must be accompanied by their own parent or caregiver. All ages welcome, admission standards apply. For current single visit swimming offerings, click here. |

Internal SupportAn inclusion staff will support participants as they engage in program activities to their fullest extent. Inclusion support is recommended for participants with special needs that require:
External Support WorkerIf a participant wishes to attend a program with external support, external support workers are welcomed.

All participants requiring support must complete a profile prior to attending any Town of Caledon registered program.
