Youth Advisory Committee

Purpose

The Youth Advisory Committee was established by Council By-law 2025-002 on January 28, 2025.

The purpose of the Committee is to provide a voice for the youth of Caledon, while advising Council of important professional, recreational, and social issues concerning the Town’s younger population.

Key Objectives

Enhance the quality of life of youth in the Town of Caledon by representing their perspectives on municipal projects, issues, and trends

Identify opportunities to improve the quality of life for local youth, inform budgets, and promote programs, resources, initiatives, and policies that impact youth in Caledon

In collaboration with staff, create and implement an annual workplan that supports the identified priorities of the 2023 - 2035 Town of Caledon’s Strategic Plan, and the goals of the Community and Human Services Commission

Planning and implementation of youth events, programs, and initiatives (such as Youth Week) in partnership with the Recreation and Culture division

Composition

The Committee is comprised of up to eight (8) Community Representatives aged between fourteen (14) and twenty-four (24) that reside in Caledon; two (2) Council Liaisons and three (3) Community Liaisons. The Mayor sits on the Committee in the capacity of an ex-officio. 

As of May 20, 2025 the Youth Advisory Committee is comprised of seven (7) youth volunteers. Councillor C. Napoli and Councillor T. Rosa sit on this Committee as Council Liaisons. 

 The Youth Advisory Committee meets every two months sans July and August, with the exception of the inaugural meeting held on August 11, 2025.
