Logistics Land Use Strategy
The Town of Caledon has prepared a Logistics Land Use Strategy (Strategy), which establishes a coordinated and criteria-based framework intended to guide how logistics and goods movement uses are planned and managed as Caledon continues to grow.
The Strategy responds to increasing pressures associated with logistics, freight movement, trucking activity, and employment growth within the Greater Toronto Area. It establishes a long-term approach to help guide land use planning, transportation planning, infrastructure coordination, and enforcement-related initiatives associated with goods movement and freight activity in Caledon.
The Strategy provides a coordinated Town-wide framework intended to:
- support economic development and employment growth;
- improve land use compatibility and freight-related planning;
- support coordination between land use planning, infrastructure planning, and transportation planning;
- strengthen the Town’s ability to respond to unauthorized trucking, parking, and outdoor storage activities; and
- inform future Official Plan policies, zoning provisions, and implementation tools.
The Strategy will help inform future projects and initiatives including:
- the Employment Lands Review;
- the Comprehensive Zoning By-law Review;
- future Official Plan and zoning implementation work;
- transportation and infrastructure planning initiatives;
- truck route and freight corridor planning;
- development review and compatibility analysis; and
- ongoing interdepartmental coordination and enforcement initiatives.
The Strategy will function as a living document and will continue to evolve over time as implementation work advances, Provincial policy evolves, and new infrastructure and goods movement trends emerge.
