Winter Parking

Winter Parking Restrictions

Please help keep our streets safe and clear

Each winter event, Town of Caledon Road Operations clears snow on more than 1,500 lane kilometres of roads. To help crews clear the roads as quickly as possible, the Town may issue a winter parking ban. Typically this would happen if Environment Canada forecasts a snowfall of 7 centimetres or greater, or dangerous ice conditions.

On some of the small streets in Caledon, obstacles such as parked cars on the roadway may result in road operators having to back-up large equipment in challenging conditions. This is a concern considering the size of some of the vehicles and the possibility of pedestrians/residents in the area. If our crews do bypass small streets, they may clear other accessible roads first and then come back to clear the obstructed road.

We ask that you refrain from parking your vehicle(s) on the road during a winter parking ban or a snow or ice event to ensure road operations can clear all roads efficiently and effectively. Vehicles interfering with road operations may result in a ticket or may be towed at the vehicle owners expense.

During a winter parking ban or a snow or ice event:

  • Vehicles cannot be parked on Caledon roads.
  • All parking passes are null and void.
  • Vehicles parked on town streets are subject to a fine and/or towed at the vehicle owner's expense.

When all roads are cleared and weather permits, the ban is lifted.

Our primary focus is clearing main, higher volume roads first. We kindly remind you to take care on roadways and drive according to weather and road conditions. As crews clear roads and sidewalks, we ask for your patience and that you try to steer clear of plows.
