Transit Trade Offs

Planning for transit service includes many trade-offs between various goals and objectives. These trade-offs should also be important to residents as they can include things such as coverage, frequency and span, connectivity, and reliability.

The Town is currently undertaking an online survey. Your feedback is important: please take a couple minutes to complete the survey and have your say!

Objective

The Transit Feasibility Study will investigate the benefits and costs of providing public transit services within the Town of Caledon, to help meet the current and future needs of its residents, workers, visitors and employers. The study will develop, and then be guided by, a set of Vision, Goals and Objectives that are consistent with the Town's wider plans.

The Study will examine the existing and projected demographics and travel patterns within Caledon, and will review transit provision in similar municipalities. From this, a set of potential service options will be developed, evaluated and prioritized. The potential options will be accompanied by a financial plan describing capital costs, operating costs, estimated farebox revenue, and municipal subsidy requirements for any proposed service. The Study will include engagement with stakeholders and the general public at key points in the study, including telephone and online surveys.

Where We Are

Members of the public were invited to complete an online survey and attend the first Public Information Centre (PIC #1) in September for an introduction to the project, and to provide input for consideration in the Transit Feasibility Study. At the PIC #1, the project team presented and discussed the problems and opportunities, as well as the background and purpose of the Study.
