Applications have been received by the Town of Caledon’s Planning and Development Services Department for an Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment.

Description of Property

The subject lands are located at 55 John Street in Alton. The property is located in the northwest corner of Alton Village, north of John Street, Bridge Street and Credit Street.

Purpose and Effect of the Applications

 The proposed development consists of an expansion to the existing Millcroft Inn and Conference Centre to include an addition 63 guest suites and approximately 673 m2 of additional floor area dedicated to meeting, dining and banquet facilities associated with the conference centre. In addition, the proposed development will include a reconfigured internal driveway/circulation system, a new visitor parking area an upgrades to the existing wastewater disposal system.

The Official Plan Amendment proposes to redesignate the northern portion of the subject lands from the existing Rural Lands designation to a Rural Economic Development Area designation.

The Zoning By-law Amendment proposes to rezone the lands Rural (A2), Rural Residential (RR), Village Commercial Exception 262 (CV-262), Village Commercial Exception 262 – Environmental Policy Area (CV-262-E) and Village Commercial Exception 277 (CV-277) to Rural Exception XXX (A2-XXX), Village Commercial Exception XXX (CV-XXX) and Village Commercial Exception XXX – Environmental Policy Area (CV-XXX-E).
