  2. Is there any development proposed in my neighbourhood?

How do I find out what I can use my property for?

  • To find out what uses are permitted on a property, you need to determine the zoning of the property. There are many ways to do this, but to begin, you need to be able to identify your property on a map (to use the website) or you need to know its municipal (street) address or roll number (for phone, email or in person).
  • Next, look at the Zone Map Index in Zoning By-law 2006-50, as amended.
  • If your property is located in the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan Area (purple area), then you will need to contact the Town of Caledon Zoning Inquiry Line (x. 4104) for your zoning.
  • If the property is located in the Niagara Escarpment Plan Area (orange), then you will need to contact the Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC) to discuss your proposal.
  • If the property is in the white area, your property is zoned under Zoning By-law 2006-50. The Zoning By-law contains a section which explains how to use the document. Continue to review the document to determine your uses permitted. If you have any questions, please email, call or visit us.
