About Boards, Committees and Task Forces

The Town of Caledon promotes and encourages citizen participation. Boards, Committees and Task Forces play an important role as they provide advice and recommendations to Council on a wide range of matters.

Board and Committee meeting dates, agendas and minutes are posted on the Calendar.  Task Forces post meeting summary notes on their respective webpage.

Administrative Tribunals

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that considers applications for minor variances from the Town's Comprehensive Zoning By-law and applications for severance (consent, easements, leases in excess of 21 years and lot additions).

Hearing Tribunal

The Town of Caledon Hearing Tribunal is a quasi-judicial committee that hears appeals of decisions made in accordance with the Business Licensing By-law, the Animal Control By-law and the Property Standards By-law.   

Statutory Committees

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Accessibility Advisory Committee assists Council regarding the accessibility standards outlined in the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001. The committee is also responsible for community awareness of all disabilities and identifying issues that will lead to the removal of the barriers for persons with disabilities

Heritage Caledon

Heritage Caledon advises and assists Council on matters related to designation under Parts IV and V of the Ontario Heritage Act and on other heritage matters in the community.

Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee

The Compliance Audit Committee receives and makes decisions on applications for compliance audits of campaign finances for Council candidates and registered third party advertisers in a municipal election or by-election. The Committee is also responsible for considering reports from the Town Clerk identifying contributors who appear to have contravened election contribution limits and deciding whether legal proceedings should be commenced.

Citizen Advisory Committees

School Traffic Safety Committee

The School Traffic Safety Committee considers matters which relate directly to school safety concerns with respect to traffic matters.

Task Forces

Business Retention and Expansion Task Force

The purpose of the Business Retention and Expansion Task Force is to serve in an advisory role to provide staff with assistance and advice on the Business Retention and Expansion Project.

Cycling Task Force

The purpose of the Cycling Task Force is to assist the Town on becoming accredited as a Bicycling Friendly Community, under Share the Road (a Provincial cycling advocacy organization).

Seniors Task Force

The purpose of the Seniors Task Force is to serve in an advisory role to provide staff with assistance and advice on the development and implemenation of the town's Older Adult Strategic Plan.

Council Committees

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee assists Council in maintaining the accountability and financial reliability of the municipality.

Golf Tournament Committee

The Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament Commitee organizes the annual charity golf tournament and selects recipients of the proceeds.

Other Agencies and Boards

Bolton Business Improvement Area (BIA)

The Bolton Business Improvement Area (BIA) is responsible for the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally owned lands, buildings and structures within the BIA area.

Public Library Board

The Public Library Board oversees the operation of Town of Caledon public libraries to ensure appropriate and efficient library service.
