Engage Council

 Council Chamber

As part of an open and accessible government, members of Council encourage public participation in the decision making process.

There are various methods to communicate and engage members of Council, such as by email, by phone, booking a meeting, attending community events held and hosted by the Town and other groups.

In addition, there are several methods to engage Council at a Committee or Council meeting, such as:

  • requesting an opportunity to make a Delegation concering a matter on the meeting Agenda
  • requesting an opportunity to make a Presentation
  • requesting an official announcement through a Proclamation to recognize the value and importance of a person, an event, a campaign or an organization for a certain day, week or month
  • submitting a Petition to express public opinion on a matter concering the Town

Public Meetings

The Town often engages the public by holding Public Meetings for various purposes. Certain matters prescribed in the Planning Act require the Town to hold a public meeting for the purpose of gathering public input. The Town's Notice Policy contains provisions for obtaining public input for matters under the Municipal Act and other items as directed by Council. Further, Public Information Centres are also held to engage members of the public for input and information regarding construction and road projects.
