COVID-19 Property Tax Programs

The Town has introduced property tax relief programs to assist taxpayers who may still be facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are unable to make payment in full for their 2020 property taxes.

2021 Property Tax Relief Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) Program

Do you have an outstanding tax balance from 2020 and need a monthly plan to pay the balance in 2021 and to bring your account current over 2021?

This program is a 12-month pre-authorized payment plan for your outstanding 2020 and new 2021 property taxes.  This payment plan will bring your balance up to date by the end of 2021. All 2021 penalty and interest charges will be waived from the date you are approved until December 31, 2021, if monthly payments are made. If you miss more than two payments, you can apply under the 2021 COVID-19 property tax deferral program below, otherwise penalty and interest will be charged.

  • Your property falls under any of the property tax classes
  • Your property must not have tax arrears prior to March 2020

Complete the 2021 Property Tax Relief Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) Plan Application. Once approved you will be notified of your monthly payments.

2021 COVID-19 Property Tax Deferral Program

Are you still experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have limited means to pay your 2020 and 2021 property taxes?

This program allows you to defer all property taxes for 2020 and 2021 until December 31, 2021. This includes waiving all penalty and interest until December 31, 2021.

  • You are facing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as a loss or reduction in employment income or a continued reduction in business revenues
  • Your property’s tax class is residential, multi-residential, commercial or industrial, and if more than one class the entire tax bill may be deferred
  • Your property must not have tax arrears prior to March 2020
  • Your property’s total current assessed value (CVA) is under $10 million

The application form will be available in January 2021. Once approved, eligible residents and business owners will be able to defer their property tax balance until December 31, 2021.
