The First CBIZ Business Meetup Recap

On July 31 the Caledon Business Innovation Zone (CBIZ) had its first business meetup. This event series is specifically designed to celebrate businesses in Caledon. For this inaugural event CBIZ collaborated with hosts Jacqui and Tyler Viaene of Via Trailers to highlight their business success story in Caledon, as well as bring the business community together. To further enhance the occasion, the event included a panel discussion on How to do Marketing for your Business featuring local marketing pros – the hosts themselves, Samira Abubakar from Brand Tigers, and Steve Conforti from We Are Creative. The event was made extra special with catering provided by local food gastronomists Gourmandissimo from Caledon East.

Amongst the information shared by the panel, the Viaenes took attendees through their business journey of getting to where they are today and what steps they took to get there. Samira discussed her transition from working in the marketing department for multinational corporations to working for herself driven by the need to find a work-life balance to be with her young children. Meanwhile, Steve emphasized the need to get online to stay competitive in the current business landscape and how to go about doing so.

The occasion brought together entrepreneurs, small business owners and startups from all over the community to create a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere. The diversity of the participants, representing various types of businesses, led to a rich discussion between each other and provided the impetus to continue the event; which resulted in the series becoming established.
