Peel board partners with Town of Caledon to bring improvements to track and field at Humberview Secondary School

The Peel District School Board and the Town of Caledon have agreed to enter into a partnership for the construction and operation of a revitalized track and field at Humberview Secondary School. The project will include the installation of an artificial turf field, new walking/running track with a synthetic surface, LED lighting and fencing on the sports field. This project represents a $1.8 million investment for which the Peel District School Board and the Town of Caledon are both contributing $900,000.

“This is an incredible opportunity for the Town to work in partnership with the Peel District School Board to support the new track and field,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “It's exciting projects like this that make a big impact on the community! Students at Humberview Secondary School and the surrounding area will now have access to a great facility that will encourage health and wellness!”

The Town of Caledon and the Peel board expect renovations to the artificial track and field to begin in June 2018, with an estimated completion date of September 2018.

“We’re pleased to partner with our municipal counterparts in Caledon to deliver top-notch sports facilities and programming to Peel students and the community,” notes Jaspal Gill, associate director of operational support services for the Peel board. “When opportunities like these present themselves, it’s clear that they are a win-win for everyone involved.”
