National Public Works Week: Celebrating Community

Staff who work in areas that provide and maintain public infrastructure and services will be recognized and honoured during National Public Works Week, May 20 – 26, 2018. Town Activities and programs scheduled for the week will celebrate the contributions of public works professionals as well as the communities they serve.

“We value our communities and the role public works professionals play in keeping them safe and functioning smoothly”, said Mayor Allan Thompson. “The goal of National Public Works Week is to recognize the great staff contributions, as well as educating the community on roles and responsibilities of public works professionals.”

Public works professionals at the Town include those who manage, maintain and rehabilitate roadways, sidewalks, bridges, transportation engineering, crossing guards, energy & environment initiatives, and Town facilities. Staff maintain and improve the systems and services vital to a community’s health, safety and comfort.

Local activities scheduled for National Public Works Week include:

  • May 20 – 26 –Town Hall Display, Atrium
  • May 23 – Crossing Guard Appreciation Day
  • May 26 – Equipment Show and Tell | 8:00am – 12:00pm | Caledon East Community Complex
