Mountainview Road Environmental Assessment

Posted on Friday August 02, 2019

Update (July 24, 2019)

The Town of Caledon has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for Mountainview Road between Old Base Line Road and Granite Stones Drive. (see attached completion notice).

Consultation with stakeholders (public and agencies) is a key component of the Class EA process and input was sought from various parties throughout the study. Two Public Information Centres (PICs) were held, the first on November 13, 2017 and the second on April 26, 2018.

An Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared, which details the planning and design process, how public and agency input was addressed, and the preferred alternative, along with associated mitigation measures to address impacts, and next steps towards project implementation. The ESR will available for public review for a 30-day review period, from August 2, 2019 to September 2, 2019, on the Town's website (see attachment below) and at the following locations:

First Published - May 7, 2017

The Town of Caledon has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for Mountainview Road between Olde Base Line Road and Granite Stones Road to address development needs and ensure satisfactory level of service and safe driving conditions within the study area.

The Process

The study is being carried out in accordance with the requirements outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Public Information Centre (PICs) will be held to discuss issues related to the project, including alternative solutions, evaluation criteria, environmental impacts and mitigation measures. PIC dates and details will be advertised as the study progresses.

Once the study is complete, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared and available for public review and comment. A Notice of Completion will be issued at that stage.

Consultation

A key component of the study will involve consultation with interested stakeholders, the public and regulatory agencies.

You are encouraged to provide your comments to be incorporated into the project planning.

Please contact either one of the following project representatives if you would like further information on the project, have any questions or comments, or would like to be added to the study mailing list.*
