Exercise caution with bad weather approaching

With precipitation and falling temperatures forecast over the next several days, rain may freeze and cause slippery road conditions in some areas. Residents are reminded to:

  • Drive to conditions - Take care and drive according to road conditions.
  • Obey speed limits - Posted speed limits are not targets; they are maximums under good weather and good road conditions.
  • Walk carefully on sidewalks - Sidewalks may also become slippery. Pedestrians: please exercise caution.

The Town’s response
Based on current weather forecasts, the Town will begin winter maintenance operations (mainly salting) today, and throughout the weekend

  • The Town has supplies, equipment, and all Road Operations staff ready for this weekend.
  • Snow plows and other winter maintenance vehicles need room. Please give them space and be aware that lanes may be closed as they work.
  • The Town has two vacuum trucks to service clogged or overflowing catch basins.

Hazards on the Road
With changing temperatures forecasted for this weekend, there is risk of downed trees and flooding across the road way.

  • You may report road hazards by calling one of the numbers provided below.
  • Town Road Crews will be dispatched, as required.
  • Town staff will close roads, if needed, and provide adequate signage and detour routes.
  • For damage to private property or flooding, consider calling your insurance company.

  • During regular business hours - During regular business hours you may report road hazards by calling the Town of Caledon, Service Caledon at 905.584.2272 x. 7750.
  • After hours - Outside regular business hours or on weekends you may call the Region of Peel After-Hours Service at 1-800-563-7881.
